Hi, I’m Jada Wang. A BACP-registered counsellor offering individual, couples and family relationship therapy in English and Mandarin.

I work with adults navigating self-worth, attachment, identity, cultural transitions and complex family or relationship dynamics. My approach is relational, trauma-informed and culturally responsive.

Professional Snapshot

I am a BACP-registered counsellor and NZAC Teina / Provisional Member with more than 3,500 hours of clinical experience across private practice and NHS primary care. I work with adults, couples, mothers and adult daughters, and selected families, offering counselling in English and Mandarin, both online and in person in London.

My approach is relational, attachment-informed, trauma-informed and culturally responsive. I have particular experience supporting women with self-worth, shame, anxiety, identity and relationship difficulties; working with mothers and adult daughters affected by conflict, emotional distance and intergenerational patterns; and helping couples navigate communication difficulties, attachment needs, migration, cultural differences and family expectations.

Having worked with people from a wide range of cultural and national backgrounds, I pay close attention to how culture, gender, belonging and family context shape emotional life and relationships. I aim to offer a thoughtful, compassionate and collaborative space where difficult experiences can be explored without judgement or pressure. My practice is supported by regular clinical supervision, specialist supervision for couples and family work, and ongoing professional development.

The Core Values of My Work

Authenticity

Therapy offers a space where you do not need to perform, minimise your feelings or become who others expect you to be. I work with openness and honesty, while respecting that trust develops gradually and at a pace that feels manageable.

Compassion

Therapy offers a space where you do not need to perform, minimise your feelings or become who others expect you to be. I work with openness and honesty, while respecting that trust develops gradually and at a pace that feels manageable.

Cultural Understanding

Culture, migration, identity, gender and family expectations are not treated as background information. We can explore how these experiences have shaped your relationships, choices and sense of self, without assuming what any part of your identity means to you.

My Story: Culture, Identity and Relationships

A childhood photograph from the coastal city in eastern China where I grew up.

I was born and raised in a coastal city in eastern China and later made my home in the UK. Living across cultures has shaped my understanding of identity, belonging, family expectations and the quiet ways people can learn to set aside their own needs in order to maintain connection or meet the expectations of others.

My interest in therapy is both professional and personal. Through my own years of reflection and therapeutic work, I came to understand more deeply how early relationships, cultural messages and experiences of not feeling fully seen can influence our self-worth and the ways we relate to others.

This did not give me a simple formula for healing. It gave me a lasting respect for the courage it can take to face painful patterns, make sense of conflicting feelings and gradually develop a more compassionate and honest relationship with yourself.

I share this because it informs the therapist I aim to be: warm, thoughtful and able to stay with complexity without rushing to explain, reassure or fix. Your story will be different from mine, and I will not assume that I already know what your experience means. My role is to listen carefully, help you understand what has shaped you, and support you in finding ways forward that feel grounded and true to you.

Why This Work Matters to Me

I have a longstanding interest in how gender, culture and family expectations shape women’s self-worth, emotional wellbeing and relationships. Many women learn to silence their needs, carry responsibility for others or feel caught between personal autonomy and cultural connection.

I value therapy that understands these experiences within their wider relational and social contexts, while remaining open to each person’s individual story.

Professional Credentials & Ongoing Development

I am committed to practising within clear professional and ethical standards, supported by regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development. My training reflects my interest in depth-oriented counselling, attachment, trauma, relationships and culturally responsive practice.

Outside the Therapy Room

I am naturally reflective, perceptive and attentive to the emotional worlds of others. I value honesty, depth and a life shaped by purpose, while also recognising the importance of remaining grounded, curious and open to perspectives different from my own.

I care deeply about women’s wellbeing and gender equality, particularly the ways in which social expectations, emotional labour and family roles can affect a person’s sense of self and their relationships. This awareness informs my work, without assuming that any one framework can fully explain an individual’s experience.

Mindfulness and meditation have been part of my life for many years. They support my capacity to slow down, remain emotionally present and reflect carefully on my work. Outside the therapy room, they are also part of how I stay connected to myself and approach life with greater awareness.

A few things that light me up:

My core strength lies in discerning truth from illusion.

With sharp intuition, grounded knowledge, and an open heart, I’m here to help you uncover your self-worth and personal power — and walk the path of your own healing and liberation.
